The “Get To” of Giving

We read in the Bible that God owns everything (see Psalm 50:10) and is the Giver of all good gifts (see James 1:17). Jesus demonstrated and declared that how we spend money reveals what is going on in our hearts: “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also” (Matthew 6:21; Luke 12:34 ESV).

The Apostle Paul called people to giving that is full of joy (“hilarity” in one translation) and done in a humble and sacrificial attitude. He gives this encouraging word: “The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver” (2 Corinthians  9:6-7 ESV).

We call our Chandler Bible Church members and regular attenders to give, not to meet some “Have To” percentage, but to enjoy the “Get To” opportunity of financial giving for the sake of the Gospel in response to the love and sacrifice of Jesus Christ.

Returning a portion

Giving is an act of gratitude and dependence. It allows us to partner with God in His work through Chandler Bible Church and into the world. Giving requires the highest standards of faithfulness and discipline. Giving should reflect a regular and systematic plan. Through our tithes and offerings, we prove faithful in the stewardship of all God has provided for us. Giving cheerfully and sacrificially of our finances is an act of worship. A Christian is given the privilege of wisely managing the resources that God has blessed into the Christian’s life.

This is why we call our offering as a part of our weekly worship service “Returning a Portion”. God is the true owner of all that we have. We are returning to Him a symbolical portion in recognition of this fact.

Honor the LORD with your wealth and with the firstfruits of all your produce.—Proverbs 3:9 (ESV)

Thank you to everyone who has partnered with Chandler Bible Church – through prayers, financial support and ministry involvement – and is joining us in remaining “Rooted in Christ and Reaching out with the Gospel.”

A word of guidance

Chandler Bible Church feels strongly about principles of stewardship and financial responsibility. Online giving can involve the use of credit and debit transactions. Every giver should exercise care in using credit cards for giving. We offer this option only as a convenience and not as a way to avoid sound biblical money management principles or to incur debt.

If you have a balance on your credit card(s), we ask you to not use this method to send your contribution. Instead, please use one of the direct debit options, or give in person at our weekly worship service.
